What are the Different Numbers on my Prepaid Visa gift card?
A prepaid Visa gift card typically has several numbers associated with it, each serving a different purpose:
Card Number: This is the primary 16-digit number on the front of the card. It is unique to your card and is used for making online and in-store purchases.
Cardholder Name:
Your name is typically printed on the front of the card. On many prepaid Visa or Mastercards, however, there is no name printed on the front, as anyone can buy it. You are encouraged to register and activate your card with your own name and address immidiately after purchase, which can be done on the company issuer’s website.
Expiration Date:
This is the date until which the card is valid for use. You cannot use the card after this date.
CVV or CVC Number:
The Card Verification Value (CVV) or Card Verification Code (CVC) is a 3-digit security code usually found on the back of the card. It is used to verify your identity when making online or phone transactions.
Card Activation Code:
Some gift cards require activation before use. You might find an activation code or a scratch-off area on the card, which you need to use to activate the card.
Card Serial Number or PIN:
Some gift cards have a PIN (Personal Identification Number), which is used for added security when making purchases or checking the card’s balance. This is usually on the back of the card, in the packaging or may need to be obtained from the issuer’s website.
Customer Service Phone Number:
The customer service or activation phone number is usually printed on the back of the prepaid gift card. Call this number to register and activate your Vis gift card.
It’s important to keep your gift card and its information secure, just as you would with a regular credit or debit card. If you have any questions about your specific prepaid Visa gift card, I recommend checking the documentation that came with the card or contacting the issuer, which is usually a bank or financial institution.
Why Does my Prepaid Visa Gift Card have a CVV number?
The CVC or CVV numberĀ is a three-digit or four-digit numerical which is the code used to verify the authenticity of the Visa credit or Visa debit card in transactions. The CVV number is a security measure for online purchases to prevent fraud.
NOTE: Most prepaid Visa Gift Card issuers require you to register your card on the company’s card portal before you can use it online. You should register with your full name and actual address, as online merchants will often check these data before accepting a purchase online.
